For over 40 years Briarwood has been a private fishing club offering first class fly fishing opportunities for four species of trout and lake fishing for eleven warm water species. In 2008, under new ownership, we expanded to providing whitetail hunts in our preserve from mid-September to mid-January.
At the request of our clients, we now provide open range whitetail hunts. The season varies from year to year, but is typically open from the end of September to the first week in February. Weapon used is dictated by state regulations, but bow/crossbow, gun and muzzleloader hunters are welcome.
Open range hunts will dove tail perfectly with our current activities as we will provide the same first class treatment our fishing members and preserve hunters have come to expect. Open range hunters stay on the property in Rainbow Lodge, set up with modern kitchen facilities, WiFi, a breakfast bar, large sunken fireplace, large deck overlooking a lake, an outdoor grill, and an outside fire pit. While hunting with Briarwood you will also have access to a variety of outdoor activities including fishing, adding a whitetail hunt in our preserve and shooting sporting clays/game birds at Mad River Sportsman’s Club.
Whitetail hunts are semi-guided, with a Briarwood staff member taking you to the stand and picking you up on your schedule. Our hunting areas will be pre-scouted with stand locations selected based on providing the hunter the best opportunity to be successful.
You will be on your own in the stand and will make shot decisions as you see fit. There is a 130″ size limit as the farms we hunt have a proven track record of consistently producing trophy bucks of this size and even over the 200″ class.
